Summer Garden & House Update

The herb garden

Jasmine

The bees love the basil!

A volunteer from the neighbor's yard--castor beans.

My birthday present.  We bought this sink last year off craigslist and for my birthday this year Paul built the table-mostly out of salvaged wood from the slide from the swing set.  He's going to put a shelf above the sink using a salvaged fence board.  I've already gotten lots of use out of the sink for rinsing veggies from the garden, cleaning the porch furniture and mixing up organic pesticide spray.

Just a few projects done around the house lately.

Paul put up these shelves and the paper towel holder for me this weekend.  Now I might actually enjoy being in here doing laundry!

I wanted it to look pretty from the kitchen and living room and it does.
As you get closer you see the storage above the cabinets. and if you're inside you see all the storage on the other wall.  So just stay back and enjoy the pretty view from far away! :-)  Unless you want to help with the laundry--then come on in!!!

Since we bought the house we knew we needed to eventually replace the carpet on the stairs.  It was gross and stained and as old as the house (built in the late 90s.)  We finally did it a few weeks ago.  It looks so much nicer and hardly shows dirt at all so you'll never know how dirty it is!!!

As I type this, Paul is working on repairing the hole in the wall in my closet that we had to cut to fix the plumbing leak in the shower.  Next on the list is to replace all the gold faucets, towel bars, cabinet knobs, etc. in our bathroom with oil rubbed bronze to match the shower.  It's not a small job as there are 2 sink faucets, a whirlpool tub faucet, the drain and jet covers in the tub, 2 towel bars, a towel ring, toilet paper holder and 10 cabinet and drawer pulls and the flush handle on the toilet is gold, too!  I'm planning to spray paint the cabinet pulls and the flush handle.  Now contemplating replacing or spray painting all the door handles in the house, which are also gold.  I don't even want to count how many there are!!  And then there's repairing the ceiling in our bathroom water stained from the leak from Daniel's shower upstairs.  The projects are never ending!
