For the past several years our gifts to the boys have been family activities (Midevil Times last year) or one-on-one trips (Paul taking each of the boys somewhere and me taking each of the boys somewhere and doing something fun). But this year we decided to get them something that can be used all year long and fun for everyone: a foosball table. We found a used one on craigslist for a good price. The boys have had fun playing foosball at our staff retreats in the past and we thought they'd really enjoy having one. Now our basement is a real "game room": a pool table/ping pong table, the video games (played on the huge tv we found in the basement when we bought the house) and the foosball table. We hope that in the years to come our house will be the place that the boys and their friends will want to come and hang out.
After our traditional breakfast of monkey bread we had our Curtis family video game tournament (with foosball added in). I have to say that I didn't contribute much to my team's winning (that was all Paul--it seems that whoever has him on their team wins every year!) But I did beat Jae in foosball later in the afternoon. It sounds like the boys are practicing right now so they can beat Mom! :-)
We leave for a week in KY tomorrow and celebrating Christmas again with my family!
