August 2020

I wish I had posted these pictures last year after the experiences but life got busy.  It's now May 1st, 2021 and I'm trying to remember all that happened.  Sadly we are still in a pandemic and social distancing and wearing masks.  But more and more people are being vaccinated and there's hope life will go back to somewhat normal.
Anyway, back to August 2020....I guess nothing photo worthy happened in July because I can't find any pictures.  Every summer I try to take whatever boys are home to KY for a visit.  This summer was tricky because of covid.  And because I can't drive the truck with the RV it required Paul coming with us.  So we took a long weekend and camped in my parent's yard, hooked up an extension cord and water hose to the house and had a nice outdoor, social distanced visit.

We came up with some games we could play socially distanced and not touching pieces.  It worked well.

Early morning walk/run.  The weather was perfect.  We expected to be hot and using the ac in the rv and not being able to stand being outside all day.  But it was actually cold at night and perfect during the day!

Church on the porch Sunday morning.

College Move in Day!
Due to Covid Spartanburg Methodist had a staggered move in schedule.  We moved Daniel in on a Saturday but then he came home for the weekend and we drove back on Monday for him to officially stay on campus.

Walking the campus to figure out how much time to allow to get to classes.
Outdoor eating area near the cafeteria.  There were a few tables for eating inside.

I don't think the chapel got used at all this school year. :-(
Daniel had a mix of 1/2 sized in person classes and online classes.  He missed out on most of the social aspects of living on campus for most of the school year due to Covid.  He did meet Alex, who was to be a good friend this year on move in day.  He lived across the hall from him during the 1st semester.

Leaving Daniel at school!  It felt weird but Daniel has done really well with driving back and forth to school on the weekends and living away from home.

I forgot to take pictures in Daniel's dorm room on move in day so I asked him to send me some after we left.

At some point in August Jae called me to ask for something and to tell me he had gone to live in upstate NY with Mark Renteria from Crossroads.  He lived there for a little while and as of the time of this posting (Spring of 2021) he's living in transitional housing in Kingston, NY.
