Church of Saint Anne, built in the 12th century. Honors the mother of Mary, grandmother of Jesus.
Christians built a church in the south pool during the Byzantine period. Then the Crusaders built a church over that church.
Walking the Via Dolorosa.
The Via Dolorosa isn't historically accurate but more of an "exercise in faith".
Church of the Condemnation
Ecce Homo Arch, "Behold the man". Those were the words Pilate said when he presented Jesus before the people before being sentenced.
Supposedly where Jesus met his mother.
Armenian Church of Our Lady of the Spasm
Lunch along the Via Dolarosa. It seemed that the restaurant was directly below the church.
Eating like a king!
Ecco Homo Basilica
It is believed that Jesus faced Pilate in the Antonio Fortress
This floor is from 150 years after Jesus but Christians remember Jesus walking with his cross here.
I think someone is going to have to back out.
Nope. They are going to pass each other! And everyone better get out of the way!
Said to be the imprint of Jesus' hand on a wall when he fell.
I like taking pictures of doors for some reason.
Dedicated to the woman who wiped Jesus face, based on Luke 23:27 "A large number of people followed him, including women who mourned and wailed for him."
Shopping stop
And snack. Knafe--goat cheese with flour and honey and pistachios.
That's all they said was in it but I got nervous about the red stuff on top (could be paprika?) and didn't eat mine. So Paul ate both!
