We did so much each day that I'm going to have divide my posts by the sites instead of the days. Our first stop on Day 2 was Caesarea. Herod the Great (or Herod the baby killer, as Mark calls him) built Caesarea and dedicated it to Augustus Caesar.
This was the first Roman theater in the country. And it's still being used as a theater.
This city was where the first Gentiles became Christians. This is OUR story! Acts 10. And this is where Paul was tried before Felix, spent years in jail and appealed to Caesar. Acts 23-25
The Hippodrome
This is where Herod would have sat with a good view of where most of the crashes would have taken place.
A temple dedicated to Augustus Caesar sat at the top of those stairs.
