August 2014 Part 3--VW show and Chicago trip

The weekend after we returned from Maine, we took the ferry to Governor's Island to go to the VW show.

Our friends, Dan and Stephanie, got married on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend.  They asked Paul to perform the wedding so we all drove to Chicago.  One the way we stopped in Pittsburgh for the night and went to a preseason Steeler's game.

The next day we drove to Chicago.

Pullman---the Hotel
I read a book series set in Pullman, IL a while back and when I saw how close it was to Chicago I wanted to go see it.  It's the town that George Pullman (of the Pullman train cars) built for his workers back in the late 1800s.  It's now a regular town but still has a lot of the original buildings. They are trying to get it made into a National Park so they will have more money to restore some of the old buildings and maybe even get a Pullman train car.

The Administration building

Daniel's favorite thing about the trip was seeing all the professional sports stadiums.
There are bleachers on the houses across the street from Wrigley Field!
